Although doctors believed the birthmark was unlikely to affect Vienna psychologically at such a young age, Casey felt that children often notice physical differences much earlier than adults realize.

She wanted to make the decision while Vienna was still too young to remember the surgeries.

Vienna underwent three procedures as part of her treatment, each one bringing her a little closer to the outcome her family had hoped for.

To ensure everything was progressing as expected, the family even traveled to London for follow-up appointments with the surgeon. Each visit brought reassuring news.
